Pueblo Sarayaku

The Sarayaku people’s mission is to preserve the natural resources of their territories, to strengthen the Sumak Kawsay (life in harmony) and ensure the continuity of the Kawsak Sacha (Living Forest). The majority of the population lives on agriculture, gathering, hunting, and fishing. There are also small productive programs and family initiatives such as making and selling handicrafts, community tourism, avicultures and fish farms that guarantee food and economic security and improve the quality of life of families.
